PHYSICS OF SPORTS VIDEO: For our physics of sport video we had to make a video describing one action in any sport. We chose hitting the ball in volleyball. My group was, Chloe Obert, Cais Wang, Lexi Sittenfeld-Parkhhurst, and myself. In our video we shpw step by step the way to properly hit a ball, from food work to the way you hold your hand.
a^2 + b^2= c^2
(2.25m)^2 + (4.5m)^2=c^2
c= 5m
CALCULATIONS: In this video we talk about multiple diffrant calculations inclusing, momentum of the ball, force of the hand hitting the ball, velocity of ball, angle at which you hit the ball, and the distance of the ball through the air. We also went through all the clculations in our video, you can see at bottom of page.
MOMENTUM OF BALL: Momentem is the quantity of a motion of moving object. When solving for momentum you use the equation p=mv. This means that momentum, p, equals the mass of the ball times the velocity of the ball. So we had .24kg as our mass and multiplied that by 12.6m/s as our velocity. When we multiplied that we got a momentum of 3.02kgm/s.
FORCE OF HAND HITTING BALL: Force is the strenth or energy of an attribute of a physical action or movement. When solving for the force we use the equation, mv=ft. This means mass of the ball times velocity of the ball equals the force, whitch we are solving for, times time of ball from hand to ground. We plugged in the mass as .24kg. Multipied it by 12.6m/s which was 3.02kgm/s. Then divided it by the time which was .05s which ended us up with 60.4 newtons of force on the ball. That means the hitter hit you foot it would feel the same as having about 14 pounds on your foot.
ANGLE YOU HIT THE BALL: In order to find the angle in which u hit the ball you must use sin. We used the equation sin(0)=opposite leg/ adjacent leg. We plugged in 2.25m for first leg and 5m for our secound leg. We solved this by doing inverse sin of 2.25m divided by 5m. That gave us an anlge of 27 degrees you would hit the ball at.
DISTANCE OF BALL THROUGH AIR: In order to find how far the ball should land in front of you we drew a diagrams of the situation. We had how high the ball was hit from and how far it traveled. We then used the pathagream therom and had the equation a^2+b^2=c^2. We plugged in our two hights so we had 2.25m squared plus 4.5m squared this equaled, 25.3m. After that we square rooted it gettig about 5 meters traveled through the air.
VELOCITY OF BALL: Velocity is the speed of something in a given direction. In order to find the velocity we needed to use the eqation v=d/t. We plugged in 5m as our distance which we just calculated and .05s as our time. We then did sinple math and divided 5. by .05s and got 100m/s.
a^2 + b^2= c^2
(2.25m)^2 + (4.5m)^2=c^2
c= 5m

REFLECTION: Our group had many different ideas in this project. We did not work well together at all. Some people where always trying to get other to work while others would sit and never work. Personally I got annoying with people telling me to work in conclusion I had a very low work ethic. Some of our group would also leave our group and go talk with other groups making us never on task and leavening all the work for Lexi and Cais. We also weren't the nicest to each other, we all got mad at each other. Personally I got mad that I wasn't given credit for anything. They said I only did the acting however I did write a large portion of the script. In conclusion our group did not work well together and could have worked a lot better with each other. I found alot about myself in this projecct including that when told to work i do theo opposite and when not told to im some what guilt tripped into working. My goal for the next project is the get better communication and work ethic. I will get better at this by consistently staying on task and listening to others.
